Methyltestosterone is basically a testosterone in the oral form, and therefore has the same effects as injectable testosterones, although not the same effectiveness.
Because it has a fast action, with a half-life of ~ 6-8 hours, many athletes like to use this drug before training or competitions, aiming at increasing aggression and strength, since it is not as powerful in anabolic gains as injectable testosterones. .
Just like injectable testosterones, methyltestosterone also suffers the action of the enzymes aromatase and 5-alpha-reductase and therefore converts to estrogen and DHT, which can cause side effects such as acne, hair loss, prostate hypertrophy, gynecomastia, etc. Because it is an oral methylated drug, in order to survive the first pass through the liver, methyltestosterone has the additional side of being hepatotoxic, and therefore should be used with caution.
The most effective dose used for men averages 50 to 100mg per day. Anyway, it is an ineffective drug for hypertrophy, even more so if used alone, so its best use is in combination with some other non-hepatotoxic drug or as pre-training and pre-competition for strength athletes and wrestlers.
This drug is also used by women on postmenopausal androgen replacement therapy at doses of 1.25-2.5 mg / day without great risk of side effects, and in conjunction with estrogenic therapy. The use for aesthetic purposes is not well known, but I believe that doses of 10mg / day can provide a reasonable gain without great risk of virilization.
